The Gould Ski Scramble and Snowshoe Stomp is held at the Gould Community Center -- the south side of State Highway 14, approx. 10 miles west of Cameron Pass. The main parking area is at the Gould Community Center (look for the yellow race banner) and the overflow parking is at the State Forest Moose Visitor Center (1/2 mile west of the Community Center).
RACES AND CATEGORIES:
Kids Races - Start at 11:45 A.M. and will be an Open Ski loop for kids of all ages with awards given in the categories 12 years and under, and 13 years and up.
10K Skate Ski - Starts at 12:00 and will use the entire Gould Trail Loop. The event can use classic/skate/backcountry skis and any ski motion.
10K Classic Ski - Starts at 12:05 and will also use the entire Gould Trail Loop. The event requires a classic ski motion.
5K Open Ski - Starts at 12:10 and will use portions of the Gould Loop and a Michigan River Meadow cut-through. The event can use classic/skate/backcountry skis. and any ski motion.
5K Snowshoe Stomp - Starts at 12:15 and uses a custom trail just south of the Gould Loop that provides a beautiful view of the surrounding mountain ranges.
REGISTRATION: Online Registration is $18.00 plus fees for all participants 10 years and older, and $8.00 plus fees for 9 years and younger. If you have more than 2 paying children in your immediate family, register the additional youngsters in person on race morning and they will participate free. RACE DAY registration is in the Community Center building and opens at 10:30am and has to close promptly at 11:45am.
The races are electronic chip-timed so pre-registered folks can pick up their bibs and chips from 10:30 - 11:45am.
AWARDS: Categories for awards for the all of the 10K and 5K events will be 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. The Gould Ski Scramble is famous for its raffles and give-aways -- (all donations for door-prize items are welcomed. )
POST RACE POTLUCK: The award presentations inside the Community Center building are at approx 1:44pm. The Girl Scouts offer excellent meals at a value price immediately after the races.
SKI SCRAMBLE DANCE: Featuring music and dancing from 5 - 8pm. Raffle winners will be announced at the dance. Cover charges are $10 per family, $6 per couple, and $4 for individuals. Tickets can be purchased online (when you register), or at the door on Saturday evening.
BENEFITTING: The Gould Community Center. All race entry proceeds, souvenir apparel sales, raffle revenues, and dance fees are for the continued development of the Gould Community Center. Additional donations can be made when you register online or in person at the races, and are greatly appreciated.
